Nip + Fab is Effing Fab!

Hello my little luscious pumpkin pies. This blog has been neglected for three years and I am not quite sure if it can come out of the trauma it has gone through – but, we are going to try to revive it. By “we”, I mean me – pushing out content, and you – reading it!

Over the past three years, my life has changed drastically. I got married to my best friend and boy friend of 11 years, we bought and moved into our first home and I also got a nice change of position at work. Apart from the good things that have presented themselves, I have also experienced terrible heartaches – losing fake friends to losing my beloved pet dog, Jayboy. The latter hurt me a million times more than the former of course. I miss and yearn for him everyday.

But the good news is that, I am doing OK. I am content with my life and people in it and am sort of proud of all the accomplishments I have bagged at my age. I am doing A-OKAY.

One of the biggest changes in my life came about a year ago when a dry spot appeared on my left cheek. It started off as a tiny spot and became a bruise about the size of a penny over night. The “bruise” eventually started flaking and spread to two other areas on my face – under my left eye and above the left side of my lip. At first, I presumed it was an allergic reaction to a product I was using. So I began the long and arduous task of omitting certain products out of my regime one at a time to see which one of them could have been the trigger. That irritating process did not help in any way, shape or form as the flaking never ceased or got better. So after going through life with a flaky face for about 6 months, I decided to see a dermatologist and low and behold, I was diagnosed with eczema. I may have been the only 27 year old in the world who got diagnosed with eczema at that age. I was mortified and rather upset that I had eczema on my face and not on my body like other people did. I mean, it was on my face DAMN IT! Eventually the spots appeared here and there on my body, so, wish granted I guess.

So I was given a cream which I felt was made of Tinkerbell’s fairy dust as I saw results immediately. However, I needed to find a more, well, permanent solution to my facial eczema. After a very long time, I did research and actually studied my condition and decided that Glycolic Acid would help and I took a very hopeful leap.

Thats when I discovered two BEYOND-AMAZING products by Nip + Fab! Both these products have Glycol Acid in them. I chose to try NIP + FAB because, embarrassingly so, I heard that Kylie Jenner used their products and her skin is flawless. So yeah. A little juvenile, but DANG, the Kardashian Clan is influential. Also, the reviews were fantastic as well. The question that you may have is…

WHAT DOES GLYCOLIC ACID DO?

Untitled-2

So basically, it is an ‘awesome-sauce’ exfoliant that will remove all the dead skin and bacteria on the surface of your skin. I have been using these products for about two months now and my eczema has completely stopped flaking and rarely flares up anymore. I wouldn’t recommend something that doesn’t work, so I honestly think these would work if you are suffering from eczema. I recommended them to a friend who had similar skin issues and it worked for her as well.

1.NIP + FAB SKIN Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads – SGD22 on Lazada.com & USD12.95 on Drugstore.com.

This comes with 60 pads that are soaked in the product. I use one pad on my cleansed skin every night before I go to bed. It will sting a little during the first few applications.

2. NIP + FAB SKIN Glycolic Instant Fix Mask – SGD15.20 on Lazada.com & USD12.95 on Drugstore.com.

This is a clear gel serum that you will have to evenly spread on your face. Leave the product on for about 10 minutes and then rinse it off. I use this once a week – its part of my Sunday routine.

Both of these together makes your skin feel like a baby’s butt. And I highly recommend them! If you are suffering from eczema spots on your face, give these a whirl, I am confident that they will help without breaking your bank.

I hope this helped Pumpkin Pies. I miss sharing amazing things with you and I sincerely hope that you guys have been doing fine. I hope that you have reached greater heights and have reached all the goals you had set for yourself. Have a fantastic day and please feel free to clear any doubt or ask any question you may have in the comments. See you soon! MUAH!

Webspirations!

Why hello there! I am certain that you did not think you’d see me here twice a week. I have honestly been on my MacBook the whole of today. From editing videos to blogging to preparing materials; one rest day is not enough!

Anyway, I decided to do three webspirations today. Basically I rampaged through topshop.com and picked out several pieces and put them together to form complete looks. I guess by doing so, if ever I get stuck with having nothing to wear, I can just go through my artillery of looks and get inspired. I haven’t done this in a while so I really wanted to share three looks with you. Hopefully they help in some way.

OUTFIT1 OUTFIT2 OUTFIT3Well this was meant to be a quickie post. I hope there was variety for you. Well with that my loves, I am going to run off to wash off my masque that I have had on for a little too long. After which, I desperately need to paint my nails. They are a chipped mess! I hope you guys have a blessed week and I will write to you next Sunday. I love you!usernames2sign-off2

Bloom Just Like Spring

Hello my lovely pumpkin pies! It has been way too long. I recently decided to make a promise to all my beautiful subscribers on YouTube that I would post a new video every Sunday. I am, trying my very best to keep to my word and by doing so, I have forsaken you, my readers. I sincerely apologize. So now I find myself bringing my MacBook everywhere I go in hopes that I will find time to churn out entries and edit videos. In no way am I trying to say that writing to you is a chore. I enjoy it so much. I just feel guilt taking over the molecules in my body. I really do hope you will forgive me for being such a horrible, inconsistent blogger.

With that, here is today’s entry.

NYX is a fabulous brand. In all seriousness, I think one can live without high end brands and live delightfully with NYX. Their products are not just pocket friendly, they have amazing quality. They are worth so much more than they cost. I am always on the look out for new NYX products. I literally am on a mission to try everything.

I adore their lip products and one of my favorite lip product from NYX is their lip liner. Their lip liner comes in a huge artillery of shades. I am not even sure of the number but I am certain, they have at least 25 shades to choose from. I love it is because the pencil is creamy, has intense colour payoff and lasts a very long time. The next reason why I find myself religiously repurchasing the product is because it retails for USD$3. In Singapore, they cost SGD$6 at Smoochiezz’s warehouse at Toh Guan. It is not just affordable, its VERY AFFORDABLE!

I own many of their shades and this has to be one of my favorites. Bloom is a spectacular magenta shade that will go with every skin tone.

I mean seriously. What is there not to love about this shade. It is such a stunning, attention grabbing colour. I usually line and fill in my entire lip with these lipliners before putting on my lipstick. I have discoloration on my bottom lip and these always help to even out the tone of my lips. My lips are rather dry naturally and I love how the product does not make my lips look even more chapped. It is truly an amazing product; hence me singing this much praises.

So yup pumpkins. I hope this helped. If you have any questions regarding this product, just leave me a comment and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you for dropping by today and I promise to update this space more often. Be blessed and have a great day my loves. I will write to you very soon. Bye Pumpkins.

Get the Wood and Wink it!

Hello my lovely little pumpkin squashes! How are you all doing? I hope the past two weeks have been treating you well. I caught some nasty virus about a week ago and was down with gastric flu for the entire of last week. It was puke-fest-mania! Nasty!

I decided to take a week long break from the social networking world to just rest and try to have a whole Sunday to myself. Knowing me, that did not happen. I can’t exactly remember what I was dabbling on but I most certainly had close to no rest.

Well, with that aside, I wanted to write to you today about one of my favourite MAC eyeshadows. I decided to play with the name of the shadow in the title of this post and hear the confidence in my voice when I say, I failed at the word play. Miserably.

So if you haven’t guessed, I am going to be writing about MAC’s Woodwinked Eyeshadow. It is one of their more popular shades and it has been a celebrated colour for women who fall at any point of the colour spectrum. I have watched many Youtube videos with women from the palest beige to the richest mahogany working this shade on their lids.

It is considered a neutral shade. For paler skin tones, it will be a deeper golden-brown and for darker skin tones, it is a sparkling golden-brown. It retails for SGD$30 at MAC counters in Singapore and USD14.50 in the states (if I am not wrong).

1 2 3To be completely honest, I thought that Woodwinked had a frost finish all along. I never realised that it had a veluxe pearl finish until I took these pictures. It is as pigmented as frost finish eyeshadows. Well, surprise-surprise I guess.

4 5 6On my skin-tone, it is lovely on my lid if I am going for a golden-brownish look. I usually apply this colour on the lid and then blend a darker matte brown into the crease. If I want to wear this shadow sparingly, I will just place it near my tear-duct to help my eyes look brighter and bigger.

Well, I hope this helped pumpkins. If you have any questions on this product, leave me a comment down below and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Have a blessed week ahead and I will try to write to you again this Sunday. *Fingers Crossed*

Love you guys. Be blessed.

It’s Time To Make Some Noise!

Hello my lovely pumpkins! I hope you are having a fantastic week! I honestly find it very hard to digest that it is already the 1st week of March. I mean, we have 9 months left before 2014. Time seems to be whirling and weaving its way through my fingers. I wish it would slow down. But I guess, it all depends on me huh. I figured that I spend so much time working and taking care of my commitments that at times I forget to live.

If you guys are feeling the same way about our worlds passing by us too quickly, let’s try to savor life’s lemons and live a little.

With that, I have a new nail polish that I got from China Glaze. I usually go for the same ole’ shades of pinks and reds with my polishes. Neons, I have never been a fan of but there was something about this colour that made me want it :) I spotted it during a Watsons Sale in Causeway Point(a mall near where I live) and I was ‘umming and arhing’ when I decided to just go for it! I bought it for SGD$9.90. I know it sounds a tad ridiculous to pay that much for a polish but that’s what happens when we have to import everything from the Western Civilization. Without further ado, I present to you ‘Make Some Noise’ by China Glaze.

1 2 3 4 5 6I am at a loss of how to explain the colour. It is definitely a coral but it has a ton of red in it. It is a cross between a neon coral and an orange red. But whatever the concoction, it is a very striking, happy colour. I cannot help but feel extremely happy every time I look down at my nails. The wearing power is also fantastic! It lasted an entire week with minimal chipping despite having to go through hours and hours of keyboard punching.

Now I find myself hunting for more wearable neons. Not a good thing!

In Singapore, you can get China Glaze polishes from between $8 to $13. They are sold at the smoochiezz warehouse at Toh Guan, nailvibe.com and Sephora at ION.

I thank you guys for dropping by and I will see you again soon. New posts are up every Sunday and if the week permits, an extra post mid-week. With that my loves, you guys have a fantastic and blessed Sunday. I wish you all the best for the coming week! Break a leg pumpkins!

Polished Pouts Are The Way To Go.

Hiatus.

|hīˈātəs|noun – A pause or gap in a sequence, series, or process.

The key word we are looking for is, Pause. I was on a pause as sometimes, we need it. We try not to pause as much as we can, but there are those times when you simply cannot help it. I apologise for my irritating pause. I still love you (Hehe).

Hi pumpkins. Its 12.40am on the 3rd of March and I have Ellie Goulding’s Halcyon playing on my iTunes and thunder rolling outside my windows. It is a rather humid night here in Singapore and I am letting my nail polish on my toe nails dry as I write to you today. I have finally reached a point in my blogging streak when I actually start to feel extremely guilty when I do not keep to my scheduled posts; new post every Sunday.

Which is why, instead of getting some shut eye, I am persistent on getting this entry out for you, my lovely pumpkins. I hope you are all doing well. If you are not, I send you huge, tight, warm virtual hugs and a kiss on your forehead. If you are well and content, I send you the same package of hugs and kisses. I hope reading this entry will take your mind off whatever you may be feeling at this point.

I want to write about these little pots of pout polish by Sleek Makeup. Sleek Makeup is a UK based cosmetic brand that is known for their sleek packaging, awesome colour selection/variety, high-quality products and their extremely ‘pocket-friendly’ prices. All of their products are affordable and they work a lot more than fine. Sleek products are not readily available in Singapore. You can get them from Luxola.com or ship them directly from sleekmakeup.com. If you ship directly, it will cost you a flat rate of USD$13. My suggestion, get a few friends on board your makeup haulage and split the shipping cost. Its more cost effective that way.

I have 6 pout polishes in my collection from Sleek. Pout polishes are tinted lip conditioners. In simple terms, they are pots of petroleum jelly with amazing colour pigments added to them. There are three main reasons why I love them so. Firstly, they smell amazing. They have a hint of vanilla. And you guys know I would kill for vanilla. Secondly, they actually work as lip balms and keep my ever-so-dry-and-cracked lips moisturised. Thirdly, the pigmentation in the product stains my lips and leaves them looking young and bitten – The residue that is left behind as a “stain” is very subtle and the distribution is even. They retail for USD$5.99 each. That is a deal right there. The pictures are pretty self-explanatory. Here are the swatches of the colours I have in my collection.

I hope this helped in on way or another. Thank you so much for stopping by. If you have any questions on the product, please leave me a comment and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Have a great night pumpkins. Time Check. 1.09am on 3rd March 2013. I am officially zombie-fied! Good Night. Blessed Dreams.

Medium Contour To Go!

Why hello there! I am not sure if you remember me. I used to write here at least once every week. I have been gone for what seems like two going on three weeks. I have no idea what kept me away from blogging for that long. Now that I think back, I can’t seem to put my finger on what kept me busy.

Thank you fo dropping by today and I want to talk to you about Sleek’s Contour Kit. We do not have Sleek makeup readily available in Singapore. I came to know of it through our faithful London beauty bloggers and Youtubers. I love the London youtubers. There is such something about the way they speak and construct their sentences that always manages to convince me that I need what they are reviewing. That’s exactly what happened when I first came across sleek!

Contouring has been in the beauty industry for the last, well forever.

tumblr_m4sv7y8Gve1r2g0at

According to beauty experts, when we women apply foundation onto our skin, we remove the natural contour we have on our faces ever so slightly. The contouring method is used to darken certain areas and highlight certain areas to make features such as your cheek bones, pop and ultimately make your face look smaller/slimmer. It is not a very complicating process but if I were to be completely honest, I would say that my contouring skills leave much to be desired. I simply go on a whim and place the product where I think it should go. 90% of the time I get it right. The other 10% of the time, let’s just say that I look slanted to the left.

After much consideration, I decided to purchase the Sleek Contour Kit in Medium. I had high expectations for the product as it bares the imprint, “Sleek” on the packaging. And I am happy to report that it met every single one of my expectations.

3 4

5 6

The product comes with two pressed powders. The first, a frost finish golden-beige highlight and a matte finish muddy-brown. This kit is perfect for those of you are between an NC40 to an NC45 by MAC. The highlight seemed extremely harsh when I first swatched it but blended in, it looks like the perfect glow. Thankfully the shimmer particles in the highlight are really tiny and subtle.

7 8 9

I love the contour shade as it is just about two shades darker than my skin. That means that the contrast between my skin and the product is not stark so it looks like a natural cast of shadow.

10

This is how the product looks like when it is blended in. Sleek has three shades for their contour kits. Light, Medium and Dark. They are extremely pigmented and they are formulated to provide the perfect amount of “natural looking” contour and highlight. They retail for USD$8.49 on sleekmakeup.com. They ship worldwide at a flat rate of USD$13. If you want to purchase it from Singapore, you can get it from luxola.com.

I recommend this product for those who are interested to try out contouring. It would work as a bronzer to those who have darker skin. Sometimes, I cheat a little and use the product as an eyeshadow and brow highlight :) I love multi-use products!

With that, I leave you here. If you have any questions, please leave me a comment and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I love you guys and have missed you so. Rest well, eat well and love to the fullest! Be blessed with a great week pumpkins. Thank you for dropping by again.usernames22sign-off21
